History

Dakota Agronomy Partners was formed in 1999 when Enerbase Cooperative Resources, CHS SunPrairie and Farmers Union Oil of Velva decided to collectively combine their assets to better serve their agronomy patrons. Farmers Union Oil of Velva voted to exit the LLC later in 2002. From 2003 – 2013 the parent cooperatives of DAP were CHS SunPrairie and Enerbase Cooperative Resources.

In 2004 the DAP board of directors voted to build the Minot “Mega Plant” to ensure a stable supply of fertilizer products and provide DAP growers with a faster, more efficient way with which to get this product.

In September 2013 the patrons of Souris River Cooperative (now Border Ag & Energy) voted to join their agronomy assets with DAP to better serve the patrons of that area, broadening the trade area significantly for DAP.  At that time Souris River Cooperative became the third parent cooperative of Dakota Agronomy Partners LLC.

In September 2016 Souris River Cooperative & Bottineau Farmers Elevator merged creating Border Ag & Energy. At this same time, Border Ag & Energy’s seed assets in Lansford & Newburg moved under DAP as well as CHS SunPrairie’s seed assets in Minot, Mohall & Ryder.

Finally, on June 26, 2018 the DAP board voted unanimously to move all agronomy assets of the three parent cooperatives under the DAP umbrella to improve buying power, logistics and manpower.
